Order from Jostens today!

Graduating students and degree candidates participating in Commencement are required to wear SF State-specific academic attire. Regalia for rent will also be available through the SF State Bookstore during Grad Fair (March 14-16).

Students who are in need of financial assistance for renting Commencement regalia should reach out to dos@sfsu.edu before April 12th. The deadline to request assistance for renting commencement regalia is April 14, 2023

Regalia can be ordered online through Jostens. Regalia Ordering DEADLINE is April 14th.

Regalia will be shipped to your home within 1-5 weeks of ordering. If you are attending an early department ceremony, please consider placing orders no later than April 7th.

Items ordered through the Jostens website beginning March 1:

  • Bachelor SFSU Custom Unit includes Gown, Cap & Tassel - $45.00 rental
  • Master SFSU Custom Unit includes Gown, Cap & Tassel and Hood - $80 rental
  • Bachelor or Master Gown only - $32.00 rental
  • Cap only - $7.00
  • Tassel only - $6.00
  • Hood only - $35.00
  • Grad Packs (regalia, diploma frame, announcements) are also available on this site in four different packages
  • Shipping costs: $12.95 standard

Items ordered through SFSU Bookstore:

  • Honor cords will be available before the end of March. (Proof of eligibility needed to confirm orders or purchase in-store) - $13.00
  • SFSU Custom Sash - $38.00
  • Stole of Gratitude - $22.00

Gown and Hood Returns

To return, all rental regalia needs to be dropped off in return receptacles at Oracle Park exits on May 26th or dropped off/mailed to bookstore by Friday, June 2nd during business hours. Non-return fee is $300 (purchased regalia price).

You can have someone else pick-up your tickets or regalia if needed. Have them bring a copy of your student ID and the order confirmation to the SFSU Bookstore ticket pick-up and let the staff there know you are picking up on a graduating student’s behalf.

My order was wrong or didn’t include everything – what should I do?

When can I expect my order?

Cap and gown orders typically ship within 5 weeks from the time you ordered. The last day to place online orders to arrive by May 26th is April 14th. You will receive an order info email along with a link for tracking. 

What if I miss the Online Order deadline?

The SFSU Bookstore will have a limited stock of regalia to rent from in-person at the Bookstore from May 15th-May 19th.

Grad Fair March 14-16

SF State’s Grad Fair will take place Tuesday, March 14 – Thursday, March 16 from 10am – 3pm at the SFSU Bookstore in the Cesar Chavez Student Center. 

At this event you will be able to place Cap and Gown orders to be delivered to your home, get a free sitting for your Graduation Portrait Photo, receive information about Grad Sash Customization, and get 10% off of any Graduation/Alumni gifts, clothing, and diploma frames while supplies last. Vendors will also be able to help you purchase class rings, accessories, and Announcements.

Guest Tickets

Renting or purchasing regalia through the Jostens website or through the Bookstore will qualify you to receive up seven (7) Commencement tickets. Tickets will be available for pick-up at the SFSU Bookstore:

  • May 8-May 26 (Monday-Thursday 9am-4pm, Fridays 9am-3pm)
  • Saturday May 11; 10am-2pm
  • Saturday May 18; 10am-2pm

(Extended hours TBA)
